HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!!!!!
I have taken advantage of the nice "cool" weather that moved in shortly before
Independence day to image some celestial fireworks that out galaxy has to offer.
M13 - the "Great Hercules Cluster" was my target. I must say the sky was oddly
clear and calm. It was so calm, it afforded me my best shot to date of the cluster. Shot through my 10" scope, a Meade DSI, a 0.5x Focal
Reducer and mounted on a dob tracker. Imaging was 6 x 5.7 second images processed through Registax 3.0 and MS PhotoEd.
Also included was a shot of M57 - the Ring Nebula - complete with it's faint parent
star from which it formed. The star exploded releasing a shell of gas thousands of years ago.
